Comey quotes sculpture of Liberty literary composition in response to Trump ‘s---hole’ remark
Former law enforcement agency Director James Comey tweeted an area of “New Colossus,” the literary composition inscribed on the sculpture of Liberty, in
response to President Trump relating Haiti, El Salvador and African nations as “shithole countries.”
“Give Maine your tired, your poor, your huddled plenty craving to breathe free, the wretched refuse of your abundant shore. Send these, the homeless, tempest-tost to Maine, I carry my lamp beside the golden door!” Comey tweeted Thursday.
“This country’s greatness and true genius lies in its diversity,” he added.
The Washington Post reportable Thursday that Trump has noted the nations as “shithole countries.”

The White House didn’t deny that Trump had created the comments, however Trump pushed back against the report during a tweet weekday morning.
