Coronation Street actor Simon Gregson is set to become a father for the third time.

Gregson, 40, and his wife Emma Gleave, took to social media to announce the impending birth with a hilarious picture of themselves.

The picture shows the pair pose shirtless with Gregson sporting a 'beer' belly and his wife a baby bump.

The actor who plays Steve McDonald on Corrie, posted the picture of the happy couple on his Twitter.

It shows the 40-year-old actor and his wife standing shirtless in a garden, with Gregson having written 'beer' over his stomach and his beautiful wife having scribbled 'baby' on hers.

The actor captioned the snap: 'After a stressful few months... myself and Emma Gleave are excited to announce...'

Obviously overjoyed at baby number three, Simon also saw another benefit with his partner being pregnant.

Shortly after making the announcement, he added in a direct tweet to his wife: '@emmagleave hang on this means I get free lifts from the pub. I love babies.'

The long-term partners married in 2010 and are already parents to seven-year-old Alfie and five-year-old Harry. 

Several current and former Corrie actors, including Georgia May Foote and Catherine Tyldesley and Shobna Gulati, sent their congratulations to the couple, as well as Beverley Callard, who play's Simon's character's mother on the soap, who wrote: 'Oh so thrilled.'

Simon's co-star Samia Ghadie, who is pregnant with her and boyfriend Sylvain Longchambon's first child, wrote: '@simongregson123 @emmagleave aw brilliant!! So happy for u monkeys! ❤️ #babyboom xxx.'

Brooke Vincent wrote: Omfg!!!!!!!! CONGRATULATIONS @simongregson123 @emmagleave I'll drink for you Em don't worry!! ����.'

Simon has been a part of Coronation Street since his teens with character Steve the ninth longest serving on the soap, making his first appearance in 1989.
